Visita Iglesia - Church visit
Visita Iglesia meaning church visit, is a common practice for Catholics here in the Philippines. It is done during the Holy Week or lenten season usually on a Maundy Thursday. It is where 7 churches are visited for penance and adoration of the holy sacrament. Why 7? 7 is related to the 7 last words, 7 holy wounds, 7 ancient basilicas of Rome, etc. all relating to biblical passages and practices.
Most Filipinos practice it for penance, others, for the solution to their problems or for pleas that need answers.
We observed this practice as well and these are the churches we visited.
1.) Mary Immaculate Parish - Nature's Church

*The nature church was engulfed by fire last 2007 on New Years day, a firecracker landed on the anahaw-covered roof of the church. Good thing it was rebuilt as if nothing happened. It is one of the must see churches in the Philippines. The interiors were made mainly from natural elements.
