The Great Gatsby
If you want a movie that will be a feast to your eyes, you have to watch The Great Gatsby.
Storyline:
Based on the 1925 novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the story revolves around the life of a man whose quest is to reunite with the love of his life, a hopeless romantic in this age and time. If you are looking for a mind boggling storyline, this may not be for you.
Actors:
Each of the actors played their part really well. Leonardo Di Caprio was exceptionally talented in his portrayal of the lead male role especially in one of the scenes where he had to explode in anger.
Carey Mulligan's acting was not far from talented either. Just looking at Carey Mulligan's eyes, you could sense differences in feelings and emotions, it's like, snap, snap, snap. Toby Maguire as the 2nd lead male role in the movie did justice to his role as well.
Picture, Art Direction, etc.:
I am routing for this as a best picture winner or a nominee. The direction was masterfully done and handcrafted to perfection. Clap, clap, clap for Mr. Baz Luhrmann! Almost each and every shot was a picture ready to be framed. Each detail was artistically done.
Watching the actors in their costumes was like watching a fashion show during the 20's. Some costumes were even noted to have been designed by the distinguished fashion icon Miuccia Prada.
The only thing I regret was that I was not able to watch the movie in 3D version, I heard that the pictures and splash of colors would have played better.
Before watching the movie, I thought to myself, "it's a Leo Di Caprio and Baz Luhrmann movie, it must be good".
After, I thought, "Indeed, it was".
